VISTA, IE 7.0 and Creating Desktop Shortcuts

I have a new PC with Visa Business and IE 7.0. I frequently drag URL's from
IE to the desktop. This capability was working but now when you drag the URL
to the desktop it creates an ICON but it does not contain the URL. When you
clisk on the icon the error message is "The target of this Internet Shortcut
is not valid. Go to the Internet Sortcut property sheet and make sure th
etarget is correct". I have found I can temporarily correct the problem by
deleting the profile and create a new one. It seems to occur over time for
other profiles on the same PC.

Try this.

Alt | File | Send | Shortcut To Desktop

That works and is a good alternative, but does not explain why I am suddenly
unable to drag a short cut from IE to my desktop. Thanks for the suggestion

Some sites that I try to add to my favourites do not work. I also get the
"not valid target" message. When I go to the property sheet the "web
document" tab is missing.
There must be an easy answer to this but I am at a loss.
