There is no equivalent in Vista of XP's Repair Install. You can try a sort
of Repair Install by doing an upgrade. Here's a link:

I'd back up your data first.

Malke,
Went to the site you gave me hyperlink to and tried to do upgrade. When
I followed the instructions windows vista home basic did not give me the
option to upgrade? Just custom install? The dvd is an uprade version I used
after windows xppro install I upgraded to vista home basic? Think possible I
should have updated XPpro before upgrade to vista? Any more Ideas? Thanks
for info!

I don't know why your "repair" didn't work, but then you never said what
problems you were having that you felt would need a repair. I don't know
what you mean by whether you should have updated XP Pro before moving to
Vista.

Maybe you should start over by giving full details about the problems you've
been having and we'll attack it from that perspective.

it is NOT a repair install , it is an IN PLACE UPGRADE.
you should be able to boot from the DVD and select the UPGRADE option.
