Vista General

That is what I now have for all other Microsoft Communities i.e.
msnews.microsoft.com but this server does not show my postings under one
heading, although I do find posted them by other means, which are time
consuming - therefore I want another server who produce
microsoftpublic.windows.vista.general with my postings.

I am seeing all of your postings in this thread in the
Windows.Vista.Installation_setup Newsgroup

Hi, Curious - and Zygy.
I am seeing all of your postings in this thread in the
Windows.Vista.Installation_setup Newsgroup

Me, too...but make that newsgroup:
microsoft.public.windows.vista.installation_setup

And for a just-click-here URL:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.installation_setup

(It's very hard to type these long NG names without making a typo, so I
usually try to find a way to copy'n'paste. For this instance, I highlighted
and copied the name in the Newsgroups: box above in this Compose window as
I'm drafting this Reply Group.)

Hi RC

As was first suggested I substituted newsbtinternet.com for
msnews.microsoft.com and in the download there were no titles of any vista
communities although there were masses of windowsxp.

I do not want to try any of those listed by Google because the downloads
take such a long time. (I live in the country and am the last one on the
telephone line, so my Broadband is as fast as a snail!) consequently I would
appreciate is someone suggested a provider that has vista titles and is a
provider that will operate in UK.

I can tell you RC that the 13 years make one hell of difference between 78
and 91. It is not only that your muscles disappear, I think some of the gray
matter evaporates as well and do not think that your memory will stay the
same either! Being active makes little difference. At 78 I used my rowing
machine and treadmill for 90 min. and then worked hard in the grounds for a
further 4 hours, but I am no different to other 91s who sat and watched TV
all day long! I hope you will tell us how it feels to be 91-I'll see it from
the other side.

Hi, Zygy.

msnews.microsoft.com and in the download there were no titles of any vista
communities although there were masses of windowsxp.

Then you are seeing ONLY those NGs that BT chooses to "slurp" from msnews.
:>(

In MY list of newsgroups on msnews.microsoft.com, when I type "vista" into
the "Display newsgroups that contain..." box at the top of the Newsgroup
Subscriptions screen, I see two full pages (about 40) of Vista NGs listed.
There are about a dozen in German (.de.), 1 in Spanish (.es.), 8 in French
(.fr.), one each in .hu., it., .jp., .nl., .pt., and .ru., plus one in .vb.,
which I think is Visual Basic. And there are 13 in
microsoft.public.windows.visa; I've subscribed to six of those. How many
have BT chosen to offer you?

But your address now says "(e-mail address removed)", so it would seem that
commonwealth.com is the name of the news server that you are using, NOT BT.
I don't know anything about BT; is Commonwealth one of their "aliases"?

DSL was a big step-up from dial-up for me about 10 years ago, and cable is
even better here. When I started beta-testing Vista in 2005, I still had
DSL and those 5 GB downloads of new beta builds sometimes took more than 24
hours! When I switched to cable, the DL times dropped to an hour or two.
I hope you will tell us how it feels to be 91-I'll see it from the other
side.

Sure! Just be sure I have your new email address. ;<)

takes a long time!

Hello, Zygy:

There are numerous, free "NNTP servers" -- the one I prefer, is this:

eternal September <http://www.eternal-september.org>

Go to the above Web site and register, then create your "UserID" and password.
Next, use the following, as your NNTP server:

[Note: eternal September was formerly known as "Motzarella."]

Good luck and happy hunting!
