Vista Game Loading Error

I am using Windows Vista on my Macbook Pro with boot camp, and I just
installed Viva Pinata. Every time I try to run this program it encounters an
error and shuts the program down. I tried reinstalling the game but it still
doesnt work. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode?

VP is new, should be a Games for Windows compliant game (Since I don't want
to say Vista Ready), so running in compatibility mode shouldn't be an issue.
If the game is crashing at start up it could be a video driver/audio driver
problem. You might want to get the latest ATI driver for your video card
from http://ati.amd.com

I don't know what sound card driver Macbooks use, but you might check your
device manager and see if you can download/update the sound card driver as
well.

Any other games that do work on your system? Chess Titans? something along
those lines?

The problem you are having probably has nothing to do with your computer or
your drivers,

The problem is "Games for Windows"

Try deleting the info in the Viva Pinata.cfg (back it up first) and see if
the game still crashes.

Unfortunately, by deleting that info you will not be able to save so this is
by no means a fix.

People with Gears of War are having similar problems. I think the only
thing you can do is wait for MS to fix their service.

Games for Windows is a branding, how can a brand or set of standards effect
a game? Does box art cause games to crash now?

So you delete a .cfg file and now you can't save your games? Could you
elaborate? What's in this .cfg that causes the game to crash. I assume
you're referring to Gears of War (which seems ok on my system).

Games for Windows isn't really a service. Live for Windows is the Microsoft
matchmaking service. Maybe someone could fill me in, or at least point out
where this .cfg file is so I can check it out myself.

All the preinstalled games work perfectly fine as does every game in the
Orange Box. Lord of the Rings Online worked fine as well so games for
windows wouldnt be the problem.

I didn't say it was the problem, I said because it was "Branded" Games for
Windows, it should be Vista ready, no reason to run in compatibility mode.

I am having trouble with Gears of War too, just installed it tonight
and it keeps crashing saying that there is a problem and Vista will
try to find the solution, but then Vista does nothing....
I already installed the patch from the MS website for it to
work....now what lol
