Why does Vista take forever to open a zip file? Could something be interfering?

I cant use XP. HP will not give me the raid drivers to install XP on the SATA
drive. I found a set of drivers from Intel that let me start the install but

in that case I will give you a serious reply, although it might not be a
direct solution it may serve you for a limited period of time

you should try zipgenius a freeware that integrates with the windows
explorer shell too (right click) and is compatible with vista.

ZipGenius is the absolutely free software for Windows® that lets you
compress files to almost any kind of archive. ZipGenius supports more than
20 compressed archive formats, including CD/DVD-ROM image files in ISO9660
standard. This is the file compression suite you were searching for: it is
free and easy to use, plus it supports more than 20 formats of compressed
archives, including RAR, ARJ, ACE, CAB, SQX, OpenOffice.org documents and
the excellent 7-zip. ZipGenius now can precompress executable files going to
be added to a ZIP archive through the UPX compressor.

We use WinRAR on all of our 9 Vista Ultimate installs.
Works just fine...just like it does on XP, 2K, ME whatever...we see no
difference in its speed of unzipping of any files.

I've used WinRAR for years. Great program. I've tried other archivers,
but I always come back to WinRAR. I have also disabled zipped folder
support in Vista (among other things).
