Vista for (College) Students

G

Guest

I am a full-time student at Christopher Newport University in Newport News,
VA, a fully accredited, 4-year university of about 5,000 students. I have a
10-month old computer more than capable of running Vista that is now running
XP Media Center Edition. I am interested in upgrading to Vista (probably
Ultimate, but possibly Home Premium). I have heard that there is a student
price for Vista, but the only thing Microsoft's website gives me is a
runaround about different education programs they offer to universities,
about which I know nothing (I'm just a student, not an IT staff worker).

Does anyone know how much this is going to cost me, and where I can buy it?

Thank you,
Joe

Normally that is purchased through the school bookstore, or whatever other
distribution outlet the school has set up.

Ask your IT folks if your school participates in MSDNAA. If so, you should
be able to get a copy of Vista Business at no cost to you.

You buy it from your school's bookstore, usually, and they can tell you
how much it'll cost. You do need to check with the school's IT
department to ensure that you purchase the correct version, if you
connect the computer to the school's network.

Being at college you will likely run into domain issues. Make certain you
get a version of Vista that can handle this condition. If you want all the
bells and whistles you now have you will need Vista Ultimate.
