I tried to search but could only find a solution to this in xp, whic
didn't work for me.
My problem is that explorer will refresh every few seconds. Th
desktop and taskbar disapear then repear. It will stop running the
start up again, making it impossible to do anything. I've run a chec
for viruses and malaware and deleted all. Any help would b
appreciated

Exactly where Ramesh said. What did you mean by "I couldn't get past
*HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft"?
Have you started Regedit as an Administrator?
