Vista Error Updating (KB942763) (code 80070643)

All of the praise that I had for the new Update engine in Vista, and
this happens.

I am having trouble updating to the December 2007 DST update.

I've read almost every kind of article on that error code and it all
points to a Microsoft Office issue.

But the problem is that I don't have Microsoft Office installed. I use
Open Office instead.

What's even worse is that the updater tried to make me download and
install Office 2007 SP1. Now I know for sure that is wrong.

I also have another issue with CAPI2 Error Code 11 but I think that is
another issue altogether.

Any help would be appreciated.

The KB942763 upgrade repeatedly attempts and fails to install on my computer
too. Is there a way of getting the Update engine to ignore this update?

Yeah, in Vista under Control Panel > Windows Update.

If you view the updates available, you should be able to hide it until a
real fix for this issue can be found.

Your answer is much appreciated.

-Hi,
This is not completely a MS problem. Seems that the COMODO firewall is
interfering with the download and successful installation. There appears to
be two ways of dealing with the failure. Either completely uninstall COMODO
from your computer [disabling it does not work] or there is a work-around
that seems to also work well. Check out this site:
