Vista Driver for HP DVD 840e

Andy

Does anyone know if there is a VISTA driver available for the HP DVD 840e
burner yet? I have Vista RC1 installed on a machine and would like to get
this working.

Thanks

Hi,

Is the drive showing as installed in device manager? Does it read CD or DVD
media? If so, then it is working and what you may need is burning software.
If not, then what you may need is a firmware update from HP, not a device
driver.

Thanks for the response.

The DVD is showing in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section of the
Device Manager as an Unknown Device.

It does not show in my available drives at all, as if it were not there.
Hence my question.

You might not be able to update firmware using the Vista OS. I had same
problem and needed to update the firmware on 2 dvd writers but could only
fash it in XP Pro after the firmware update I reinstalled Vista RTM and both
drives appeared in device manager and computer as fully functoning dvd writers

Thanks for your help guys.

You were correct, I had to reboot into XP to be able to update the firmware.
Fortunately, not wiped the XP installation just yet.
