Vista doesn't like my Sony HC94E camcorder

Ok, well the subject pretty much explains everything. I searched the sony
website and they say that there should be a driver for my camcorder that
comes with vista but vista can't find the driver on my computer or windows
update. They say it's compatible with vista but yet don't offer a driver.
Some help would be appreciated cos I might have to resort to installing XP on
another HD. Thanks.

They also say that there are two components (Camcorder and driver compat,
and bundled software compat) that must be compatible. What specifically is
not compatible with your unit?

As far as your subject line "pretty much explaining everything," please read
the following for info on what makes a good subject line (the section titled
"The title of your question").

Ok, well I connect the camera to my computer via USB. It searches for the
driver, doesn't find it, asks me for a specific location or to cancel. That
about somes up the problem, any idea on how I can fix this or do I just have
to wait for a driver from sony?

I searched on the Sony USA site for HC94E but must have missed something.
Can you give the complete name of the unit? How old is your unit?

its a Sony DCR-HC94E camcorder. Well I bought it about just over a year ago
now so the model itself should only be a few years old. It worked with XP but
thats because there are drivers to download for XP. Thanks.

Well I'm using vista 32-bit and it just wont install the drivers for the
camera. I checked the site before and it does say my model is compatible with
windows vista 32-bit. It also says the drivers should come with vista and
doesn't offer a download, which is annoying. Basically I'm screwed and it's
really annoying because I was actually really liking Vista.

I also forgot to mention I get this message after failing to install drivers.

"This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between Windows Vista and
Sony Handycam DCR-30.

Sony Handycam DCR-30 was created by Sony Corporation."

Although I'm not too sure why it says because mine is a totally different
model.

Sometimes a family of products are identified by the first product in that
family. I don't know if that is what is going on but Sony support may have
an explanation for you.

I will try that but I doubt it will help any. Thanks for taking the time to
try and solve my problem.
