Great for one day. Went to install a update for AOL. Restarted my computer.
Bam, just after the post screen when windows is starting up, the screen goes
blank, and the montor loses sinc. But i can hear vista start up. I played
around and switched my dvi cable from the right port to the left. my screen
comes back up. I can't change resoultion, tryed updating Drivers to the
163.33 that was released yesterday. each time i restart my computer, i have
to switch the cable to the other dvi port. back and forth as i reboot. i
don't have to switch in safe mode, Any Ideas on this would be a big help, im
out of ideas.

Have you tried uninstalling the AOL update or rolling it back? (Not familiar
with AOL software, so don't have a clue how you might go downlevel with
it...) Do you have a system restore point to which you can revert?

I have a similar new system with an NVIDIA 8800 GTS with dual DVI ports and
an LG L226 22 inch monitor( a Vista Certified Monitor). The monitor has both
DVI and VGA inputs. When I connect the DVI and boot Vista the boot process
proceeds with the bios screen and then the copyright notice and the "loading"
icon cycles for 10 to 15 seconds while it completes the load the boot musical
riff occurs and the screen goes black, the monitor turns off. If I put a
DVI/VGA adapter on either of the DVI ports connected to the VGA Windows comes
up fine running the Monitor in analogue mode. In safe mode the monitor boots
fine from the DVI. Also an XP pro system works with a previous driver
version.
I have the latest WHQL certified video drivers.
In summary Windows recognizes the Monitor in in DVI/Safe mode, Analogue mode
but not DVI mode and shuts it down, this occured on the initial installation
of Vista.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

I know I''m paranoid, but am I paranoid enough?!
