vista digi cam doesn't show up

why is my digi cam doesn't show up after connecting it to the computer? I
would like to be able to drag and drop images to the HD. If I use the factory
canon software it sees my camera but it takes light years to transfer images
thru that software.

any sugg?

Method 2 of this article shows you how to remove and reinstall your 'USB
Root Hub' devices. It may help your camera show up.

A device driver is not installed, or a hardware device does not function
correctly after you install Windows Vista Service Pack 1:
