Vista can not use the 'Enter' key to answer prompts?

Because i must have made more than a billion mouse clicks in my life and
suffer a little RSI - i try to use the keyboard wherever possible

As anyone else noticed that Vista can not use the 'Enter' key to answer
dialogue boxes (prompts)?

The fact that the button 'has focus' implies it can be keyboard operated -
so the fact that it won't respond suggest another bug

I have also noticed that Vista can not change button focus by using cursor
(or Tab) keys

It behaves like the window/prompt itsself does not have focus - and yet it
clearly does

I have had similar focus issues. One problem is that with the new
whiz-bang look of Vista, I actually sometimes find it harder to figure
out which window has the focus. And sometimes, in non-reproducible
ways, Vista seems to take away the focus from the window that is
displayed on top. When that happens, all keyboard interaction with that
window (of course) ceases.

I do believe that when the window you think has focus actually does have
focus, that the keyboard interaction you are used to will work.

For complete control of dialogue boxes, you need to use more keys than that.
ALT, the cursor keys, the spacebar (for selecting check boxes and radio
buttons) as well the TAB key are needed - oh and RETURN of course.

I have a Bluetooth Microsoft mouse, which does not always work in certain
situations, like Safe Mode, and have never experienced any problems by just
using the keyboard when I need to. It saves me the bother of plugging in a
USB mouse.

I'm familiar with all keyboard shortcuts - it simply doesn't work with
Vista - well it's at best intermitent

It is strange - and intermitent - Like you i think the top window is loosing
focus - to whom or what i don't know - to hinder this, when a window looses
focus the new window is 'usually' promoted to the top and Vista isn't doing
this either - but the result is no keyboard controls
