ok so like right now and other times my pc is working fine no probs, BUT when
i go to restart my pc after an update or what not i sometimes get a random
bsod, then it would restart agin. and sometimes when i log in i get pop ups
saying that a service or program is shuting down for no reason. and my sound
would go away as well. all my vista drivers are up to date, so idk what
making this happen. any thoughts on whats going on and how to fix it.

thanks

Could be RAM errors. On one machine I occasionally get a clock speed
error although it's rare and normal operation is just fine, some
hardware timing error or another probably. Did you buy all the RAM
together, is it all the same brand / type etc...

I've seen faulty RAM or just mixed brands of RAM give all manner of
driver errors, BSODs and so on... is it always the same code in the BSOD?

Did you install Vista or is this a new machine that came with it? If it
came installed check the maker's web site for motherboard drivers, has
anything triggered this behavior such as trying to install something or
is there some time you can think of when this kind of thing started...

Hi Kris,

You stated in your last post that you upgraded XP to Vista. You need to
clean install Vista. Refer to my post 'Clean Install Windows Vista Using
Upgrade Media' in the newsgroup 'Windows Vista Installation and Setup' for
detailed instructions. You can find your drivers at the Hewlett-Packard
website - compaq is part of HP. Simply enter your model number (sr2027x) into
the serach box and continue from there. Please note that this is the UK
address as I am based in the UK.
