BSOD at random times.

Hi, Ive been watching the threads now for a solution to my BSOD problem and
unfortunately no one seems to have the same problem.
The BSOD seems to appear at the most random times, whilst on the internet
browsing, uploading pictures and just generally doing normal stuff.
I have now backed up all my files and folders and removed as many things
from it as possible to get the hard disk space back to normal thinking that
was the problem but I am still getting the BSOD and now I have no idea what
is wrong with it.
The only thing I can tell you about it (because its all mumbo jumbo to me)
is that it asks to check my memory and disk space (which I did and all seems
normal) and that it does a crash dump, sometimes, if Im lucky. Most times it
just sits on the blue screen and I need to restart it manually.
I am running vista home premium on a compaq Presario F500 and Ive had it
since june.
I hope this is enough information for you, if not, I will try to get the
necessary info for you.
thanks

hi, I have taken all my files and games and things off the laptop and I
haven't had a BSOD since saturday. I presume that because I havent had one,
it was to do with the hard disk space or memory?
I couldnt tell you what the screen says, I never copied it down when it came
up and now since I'm not getting it anymore I can't tell you hehe
Do you think I maybe just needed more memory or more space or something?
thanks

not sure what you mean by "lesson learnt" but I will upgrade the memory and
see what happens.
thanks

Hi again, I got a BSOD twice today, both screens said:

Check for adaquate disk space etc

***STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x77AF1F2A, 0X9BD17D64, 0x00000000)

Check with hardware vendor for BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options
such as caching or shadowing.

Not a clue what that means so any explanations in plain English would be
greatly appreciated thanks.
