Vista Blue Screen on restart

My XFXNVIDIA system stuck on boot with the error
Stop:0x0000007E(0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF80009859A8D, oxFFFFF9800180C938,
0xFFFFF9800180C310) The blue screen during boot showed up after auto update.
Cannot get into safe mode, known good profile and cannot boot from the Vista
64 Home Premium distribution disk. Always stops during device driver loads.
Can't update BIOS because it is a Windows utility. I assume this is a BIOS
incompatability with Vista drivers. Any help deciphering what the actual
error is? My only thought is to replace HDD with a new one, install Vista
again, flash the BIOS then replace HDDs to the original. Possible? (Plenty of
HDD free space, memory is 8g, graphics 2 x NVIDIA 8600GT SLI)

Your motherboard manufacturer doesn't offer a BIOS update utility that runs
independent of Windows? Many do, so I suggest that you first check the
manufacturer's web site for such a utility. For other suggestions, you
should post your question in a discussion group for Vista. Here's how to
find one:

As you appear to be using a web interface, start here:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx

In the tree on the left, first open the English category, then open Windows.
In Windows, find and open the Windows Vista category.
In Windows Vista , find a group to post in.
