Vista and Office

Hi Justin

Only Office 2003 and 2007 are compatible with Vista. All other previous
versions will install but will have numerous issues. Although they will work
they will not work correctly and as intended. A prime example is as below
which is Outlook. And no MS will not get around to fixing these issues
concerning Office versions previous to version 2003 in Vista.

There's a couple problems with that:

1. Many tens of thousands of people are using it with no problems.

2. The only problem of Outlook I can find is also a problem with OL2003.

Before upgrading my Office 2003 to Office 2007, I never had a problem
with Outlook 2003 remembering passwords. That was true on two different
Vista machines.
MS will sometimes claim no more support however if enough businesses scream,
it'll get fixed.

Maybe, but I seriously doubt it.

Hi MICHAEL

I beg to differ. Then you are in a minority that do not have any quirks in Office versions prior to 2003 in Vista. There is many issues small albeit issues with Office versions prior to 2003 when installed in Vista. Also there is no support from MS on the above. Although support still exists for Office XP outside of Vista.

Peter,

I only briefly had Office XP installed on a Vista beta. At the time, it was
the only Office version I had that was not in use, and even in the Vista beta
it seemed to work very well.

I don't doubt you, and I should have qualified my statement more
explicitly- In *my* short experience with Office XP on Vista, *I* did
not encounter any problems except in with OL 2002 remembering
passwords- YMMV, of course. And, obviously, it seems that it has
for some users.

Well, that has to be taken with a grain of salt. How well are people to be
trusted?

Nice try but that's NOT what you said, liar.

Close enough for me to be right and for you to be wrong, Justy Wusty.
Now, be a man and admit you were wrong. Oh, that would require humility,
something you don't have.

I tend to trust most people until they show me otherwise.

HAHAHAHA!!!!! Close enough, is that your new excuse?

Works on 5 machines just fine for me. Aside from the Outlook issue, no one
has brought forth any other problems.

Well, there you go. I came across two forums where someone claimed the same
problem with 2003. Although after reading about the root of the problem
don't see how 2003 can have the same problem.

Having to type in email account passwords on, say, ten accounts, every
time you open Outlook to check your mail is a little issue?

It's not poison.

10 accounts? Oh please! Give it up alias.

How many times do you need to be told the same thing? Plus the OP never
answered if he even needs Outlook. Have you gotten a clue yet?

I am running Office Professional XP on Vista Home Premium and it runs just
fine. I contacted MS before doing it. They said "No problem".
