Vista and IE7 and NOAA

I hope they're working on it... the problem does appear to be isolated to
the "erh" (Eastern Regional Headquarters) server(s)... www.erh.noaa.gov It
doesn't seem to matter if you get there from weather.gov or noaa.gov...

I have no probs with the pages either - apart from a pop up, but I have
chnged my internet settings and turned off protected mode and the phishing
filter.

I have the same problem, but with a different site. www.alaskaair.com

I have tried accessing it through my dial up modem as well as my wi-fi
service.
I have called Alaska airlines and my internet provider. I have removed my
firewall, and also tried removing my cookies and temporary files. This is the
ONLY website I cannot access, including other airlines. I have tried
accessing this site from 3 different states, it is definitely my system and
not my service provider.
I know others are accessing the site, but neither my laptop, nor desktop
will let me access this site. I am about to download Netscape and try that.

What's up?

Two things to suggest:

1) Make sure the browser is closed. From an elevated command prompt (click
start, type CMD, then right click the menu entry and 'run as admin'), run:

ipconfig /flushdns

2) Check your HOSTS file for an aberrant entry.

Thank You,
that said, it didn't work.
I flushed the DNS as you instructed, I still cannot access the website.
I do not know how to check for aberrant entry in my HOSTS file. Could you
please direct me more.

Also I downloaded Netscape as a browser and that did not work, so I am
assuming the problem is with VISTA and not IE.

Hi,

You should find it here:

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Double click it and you will be prompted to choose a program, locate
notepad. Do not check the box to always use this program. Click ok. Check
for an entry preceeded by 127.0.0.1 for that site. If it exists, delete the
line and then close saving changes.

Thank you again,
Again no luck.

All I found was

127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

I am set to talk with a person in the technical department at Alaska
Airlines tomorrow, but I don't hold out much hope for that.

So in re-cap I have changed browsers, deleted cookies, removed the
firewall, flushed the DNS cache, lowered the security on the virus system,
tried a dial up modem, multiple high speed services, check for an abberant
host, added it as a trusted site, talked with my server rep, checked with
Alaska airlines, talked to a Dell rep, cursed and prayed. I am out of ideas.

Rick,

Got the problem fixed, thought you might like to know how. Called Alaska
Airlines website. They are aware of the problem and working on it. It seems
to be with McAfee and Vista. They had me disable the "McAfee redirector
service" capability and presto I am on the web site now.

Take care
