VISTA AND EMAIL? Not getting all my emails?

Hi there, Im soooo hoping someone can help as optusnet basically said Vista
sux and thats the problem :(
I have recently purchased a laptop and running wireless, My problem is, This
computer is only getting some emails? Even if the other one ios switched off
the email program will tell me I have no new messages, so i will go out to
the other computer and turn it on and I have loads of new mail,
OR
I will get an email on this computer, I will reply, and when they reply back
it wont come, but If I check the other computer it will be on there :(
This is such a pain in the butt because Im thinking I have no new emails,
when really I do they are not coming here ?
Any boy had this same problem?
Anyone know hoe to fix it?

I'm not sure if Vista's Windows Mail is savvy enough to only get some mail.
Have you checked the settings on both machines for common items
- send and receive, download messages every 'x' minutes, leave messages on
server, etc.

Hi there winston, yep, checked all the settings, they are as they should be,
optus seems to think, they are gett ing taken into a hidden folder or
something>> I dont know I have spent an hour on the phone with optus another
hour with HP as this lap top is only 2 weeks old, and zi though it might have
something to do with the puter, and still no help :(
 
The only way to solve this mystery is through a process of elimination.
I would suggest trying a different email program to see if it makes
a difference in the problem you are having.
Windows Live Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird are good candidates,
but only the former will import your accounts and settings automatically.
On second thought, you may not want automatic import, because that
may carry over whatever is causing the issue.

Is your View settings set to show all messages?

View - Current View - Show all messages

Do you have any rules set up, that may be deleting messages?

Are they getting put into the Junk E-mail folder?

I don't know how to fix it, but if its any consolation I have exactly
the same problem. I use Mailwasher to scan my email for spam from
three accounts and then download it to Windows Mail - and its leaving
certain mails behind - it just doesn't seem to see them at all.

I've checked my blocked mail settings - can't see anything at all.
Its driving me nuts. Come back XP, all is forgiven.

There are few things in the computer field that always stay the same.

Hi everyone, Thanks for your replies, I downloaded thunderbird, and all is
working fine, so I really have no clue why it wasnt with the other program,
but all is working fine, :) Fingers crossed

But Mailwasher doesn't interfere with the download of the mail that
you leave in your account to download (ha ha) into your inbox - that's
all done through windows mail. Tha mails are untouched, and I can
access them ok though the web interface for the particular accounts -
I'd rather download the darn things though.

I confess I don't know exactly how Mailwasher works, but it can't
check for spam in the body of a message unless it downloads the
whole message. I'll take your word for it that it doesn't interfere
with Windows Mail in any way. Nevertheless, it is suspicious that
Windows Mail only downloads some of your emails. Windows Mail
(when left to its own devices) either works or it doesn't; there
shouldn't be any uncertainty about it.
 
I spoke with some friends who are unable to reply to my e-mails that I send.
Apparently, people cannot reply to my original message. Why is this?
 
I have no idea why your correspondents can't reply to your email.
I would have to know more details such as error messages.
 
it sounds like theproblem i had also if i understand you correctly you you
dont get the mail on both the DT ot LP if that is the case its an easy fix
here is what you do......open windows mail.....go to tools then
accounts...click on your eamil account then click on properties then go to
advanced tab.....under the delivery section at the bottom put a check mark by
"leave a copy of messages on server" that will make it possible to get your
mail on both the desktop and laptop.....hope thais works
