Vista 64 with older applications that have 16-bit - any ideas

H

Hello Freddie

We have an ap that has some 16-bit code in it. It runs fine on Vista
32. Putting Vista Home Basic or other 32-bit versions in XP
compatibility mode works if we have problems.

The problem is more PC makers are bundling Vista 64 home premium.
Trying to load or run on Vista 64 does not work.

Is there any patches, free virtual machine programs, shareware or
other easy ways to allow people to run our ap on Vista 64?

Thanks.

The way I understand it is Vista 64 will only run 32 bit apps but no longer
16 bit applications, which kind of sucks.

Hi,

There is no support for 16-bit apps in x64 versions of Vista. What you can
do as an alternative is install Virtual PC and a 32-bit OS under it to run
your 16-bit applications.

Virtual PC is free for use from Microsoft, download here:
