A friend got the virusprotect malware loaded , even with norton AV 2008. I
was able to remove much of it with spybot and hijack this, but I cant get it
out of the taskbar. Are there any tools or tricks for this? he can browse
now without it taking over his system but I woul like to remove that
annoying taskbar warning. Also dissapointed in norton for not stopping
it.

If you allowed it Norton will not be able to block it, Norton will do what
you tell it to do!.

http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx
Download Avast Cleaner (offline scanner) from here:

2- Download the Hijackthis and send the report to one of many
forums for analysis and troubleshooting:
http://www.merijn.org/index.php
When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis) is
the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. Post
your log to http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30,
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html,
http://forums.subratam.org/index.php?showforum=7, or other appropriate
forums for expert analysis, not here.

Please don't send the Hijackthis log here, but you can let us know the
result of the scan for both malware and viruses, also any progress.
Good luck.

Hosted on a porno site - do you really want people to trust a
questionable product of yours, hosted on a site where you've posted
links to porno for the world to see, where you've exposed little kids to
that filth?

I can't believe you're still trying to direct people to that porno site.

We got the malware removed to the point that it no longer interferes with
the
persons work or web browsing. It still has the annoying notification tray
icon.
The user wants to take it as it is - I am trying to remove that notification
icon,
but nothing has worked for that. Any last minute suggestions- Im still
trying to talk user into
allowing me to reformat/reload OS.

Hosted on the same site as filthy pornographic material created by
butts, blocks access (according to butts) to reputable malware sites, no
backup of deleted files/data.....

Do you really want to trust something like that?
