Has anyone heard about a TILDE virus? How do I get rid of
it? THANKS

By chance, does this "virus" create an icon on your desktop with a "~"
symbol under it? If so, it isn't a virus - it is a bug in an update from
Windows that creates a backup of your Address Book on your desktop with the
"~" symbol under it whenever you make changes to your address book. Just
delete it.

FRANK, Thanks for the reply. The tilde is an open command
icon. I opened it and XP had no idea where it came from.
Also, I deleted it a few days ago and dumped the recycle

friends computer, new 4020 Compaq XP home. And, it runs

administrator, it will not respond to color,
visualization or any other command to strip extreneous
junk to speed processor time. I was guessing it had a
virus that preempts changes. Hope I don't have to do a
destructive recovery on her system. Any other ideas? I
would really appreciate it. THANKS

This is because of update 330994 I think the number is. It is, in fact, your
address book in OE. Just ignore it. The thing isnt a virus.
