Virus???

I am running XPpro and this morning I was not able to
connect to the network. When I tried to access the
network setup the computer freezes. If I try to run NAV
the computer freezes. If I use computer management console
to stop or set startup on any services the computer
freezes. I haven't found any reference to a virus that
would cause this. Any help would be appreciated

Are you able to do a system restore?

Recommend you do a System Restore to a day or two back.
You can do a Restore up to 90 days back.
Start/AllPrograms/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.

the restore is another operation that hangs. It seems that
any process that can be used to repair this condition is
problematic. I can run Norton System works but not the
Anti virus. I may need to find a taller building to throw
this laptop off of.
