virus?

I am running xp home edition, I have problems with the
settings on my computer which change by themselves.
Everytime I turn the computer on the settings have
changed for example my default internet explorer home
page keeps on changing to a page I have not chosen or
even put there, and many folders's settings change at
whim, what is happening do I have a bug? Norton anti-
virus was not able to pick any bugs/// Please help
