virus that turns of protection

A few days ago something got into my pc and disabled my anti-virus,
anti-trojan and firewall. This stopped me from running these programs
to check and remove viruses. I disconnected from the internet
immediately as I once had a similar thing happen (before I put the
firewall on) and the pc went crazy sending hundreds of emails
automatically, which the anti virus tried to block, resulting in my
screen being covered in messages.
I have had to reformat my drive and load everything again.
Is this some sort of new virus and does anyone know if it can be
blocked?

Cheers
Ron

Does panda scan .rar files and all other archive & compression file formats
such as .zip which I should imagine it does. I used it a couple of years ago
and it did not scan .rar files making it at the time not quite "100%"

Maybe you failed to enable "scan archive files" or whatever Panda called it.

Better ask the Dude. He says Panda is the only product that has never, ever,
missed a virus; even "unknown" viruses! I'd go straight to the authority, if
I were you.
