Virus Software Clashing

Hey all, I have been using Mcafee Security Center for a year or so but
decided to instal Norton Internet Security 2005 (because it came free on my
motherboard driver cd)...anyway, I unpacked the Norton CD and it created a
folder in my temp files, and seemingly installed some aspects of symentec
Live Update (drivers etc)..since then Mcafee has crashed every time I run a
scan (it freezes on the symentec driver). When I try to run the uninstal
wizard on Mcafee it encounters a problem and wont let me continue, when I try
to instal Norton fully it fails too!! So I have a bit of a catch 22.

Any ideas what I can do?

Yeah, get rid of both of them and use a decent anti virus like Kapersky
or Trend Micro. AVG and AVAST!, both free, are better than those two.

Boot into "safe mode" and uninstall or disable one or the other,it seems
that they are battling on who is going to be the top dog, I did the same
thing several years ago. :-)

Remove both suites. Use better, and free utils to do the same job.

It's a wonder how his pc works at all with both of those monsters
running.
