virus protection

I have a norton anti virus installed, however, it is not on! I have not been
able to figure out where to turn it on! I even purchased a new Norton from
symantec 2007, but I cant install it until the old one is deleted, and my
computer wont let me delete it. WHERE Is the button to turn on my anti virus
program???? I'm going nuts here!
