Virus Problem, I think

J

My daughters computer recently became unable to access neither our home
network, nor the internet, and I think maybe it's because of a virus. I
subscribe to McAfee, but I can't download a setup file and try it on her
computer - the only option I can seem to find is to install the program from
the internet. But since my daughters computer can't see the internet, I
can't do that.

I tried downloading a free anti-virus program called AVG, putting it on a
cd, and running it on my daughters computer, but it won't load because
"shell.dll is missing".

Is there some way to either run McAfee on this computer or find a free
version of something else I can put on a CD and try?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jack
