Virus or Trojan?

Infuriating problem!! Running my weekly Norton AV scan the PC froze whilst
checking a cab file in MSOCache (Office 2003 installation files) and after
30 seconds rebooted. Tried several times to run Norton scan and each time
it froze on the same file. Next I isolated the file and asked Norton to
scan the file from the directory, again Norton froze and PC rebooted.
Immediate inclination was to delete the cab file or the complete MSOCache
directory, but reading the MS Knowledge Base it warns not to delete MSOCache
through explorer, it advises using the Disc Cleanup tool. So off I went ran
the Disc Cleanup tool, and guess what, it froze whilst checking Office 2003
installation files, and rebooted after about 20 seconds.

Is this a problem file, virus, Trojan? Should I just delete the cab, or
even the whole directory, file manually from explorer?

Any advice most welcome.

Sorted it manually, deleted the offending cab file manually (one of many)
then ran disc cleanup. This time it did not freeze then re-boot, it allowed
me to uninstall the remainder of the MSOCache. Then ran my weekly Norton AV
scan, all now well.
