AVG anti virus states that my restore point is infected and I need to remove or reset the restore points so that In the event I have to roll back to a different date I dont reinfect my system any help in indeed help full that is if we have any techs online or ms gods

Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.

The only way to do this is to turn system restore off reboot and turn it back on. This clears all of your restore points but it also gets rid of the virus. To do this
right click my compute
click on propertie
click on system restor
select turn of
then reboo
then same process except turn restore on
You will not have a restore point until tomorrow
Hope this helps.

1) With XP, simply right click 'My Computer', choose properties, then the
system restore tab.

2) Next, "Tick" the 'Turn off System Restore on all drives' option then
press OK. If it asks you if you are sure, be sure to tell it 'Yes'.

This turns off system restore, which deletes all your old restore points,
and also any spyware, viruses, whatever that your scanner was complaining
about in your system restore points. Needless to say, in the future you will
no longer be able to revert to any of the system restore points we are
removing here.

Run your scanner again to make sure you are happy and virus free now.

You can stop at this point if you wish to leave system restore off, but I
strongly suggest you turn it back on. This is also fairly simple.

3) To turn System Restore back on, firstly follow step 1 above to call up
the system restore tab again then simply remove the tick from 'Turn off
System Restore on all drives' and press OK again. This will turn system
restore back on.

4) With that done, I strongly suggest you create a new system restore point
to start your collection of them going again. Go to start menu, all
programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. Follow the on-screen
instructions here for creating a restore point.

I had the same issues and virus, but I made a mistake and deleted all the data in the system Restore regedit folder. and now I have a system restore shortcut but no system restore utility. How do I find it or install it without doing a full system recovery for that program?

If you insert your windows disk and run setup as if you were doing a full
reinstall, you should be given an option to repair your current
installation.
