Virus, Firewall and spyware

I have had my computer since October 2005; it is installed with Windows XP
Service Pack2. Unfortunately, the company that installed the software is no
longer in my community. I had a problem with my machine crashing this
weekend. Since I had no way to contact the one that installed this software,
I called Microsoft. I spoke with someone who had me delete files, rename
file, change settings, and I really don't know what else. I stayed on the
phone with him all day Saturday and not only did I have the original problem,
but I had several other problems that wasn't there before. I called
BellSouth which is my Internet Provider. They were able to help me fix the
problem.

They had me delete my virus program. I no longer have any virus protection,
spyware, or firewall which came installed with the computer. Microsoft said
I would need to purchase new ones.

Does anyone know some good virus, spyware, and firewall programs at a
reasonable price? I'm new at this and am at a loss since there seems to be
many to choose from on the internet.

Help Please

What I recommend in your case will cost you only $ 29.95

Probably the price is reasonable,I do hope.

First :
Download
Avast Home edition ( it is FREE )

http://www.avast.com

After you downloaded it,register it on their web-page-download section
After you install it,update it and configure it as it best meets your needs.

It will work very very good and you will have no problems with the computer
performance.

However ,you can't expect maximim protection from Avast.

Because of that ,I recommend you purchase Panda TruPrevent Personal 2006.
It costs $ 29 a year. This includes DAILY updates of the protection,24/7 tech
support and things like that.

Learn what TruPrevent is:

You may also download trial version before buy.

Having it guarantees you maximum protection ,trust me!!!

Also ,before installing Avast/your antivirus, check your computer with online
scanner for ALL kind of malware because you have stayed without antivirus for
some time.

Just to add...

As Windows XP SP2 has a firewall ,make sure that you UNCHECH the Network
protection in Avast while installing

While installing it -click on Custom Install (not Typical)
then UNCHECK the network protection

Also ,as you understand TruPrevent 2006 has intruder protection so it would
be the second layer.IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that you install Panda TruPrevent at
the end -after ALL OTHER security softwares so it would work correctly. This
is because there is a process of ^compatiability^ while the first boot -no
matter ,just remember to install it at the end.

Also ,do perform a scan with www.activescan.com to ensure you install in
malware free environment.

Hopefully I can help you !!!

Is free an acceptable price for you?
