Virtual PC 2007

Hello,

I'm thinking of installing a Linux version using Virtual PC 2007 on my
Windows XP Pro computer. This may be a silly question, but will the Linux
OS run and use the existing Windows Internet Security, or will Linux need
its own Internet Security within Virtual PC?

I hope I've made my question clear - apologies if I haven't.

Thanks,
Steve

A Virtual PC ( w/ Networking ) functions the same as a stand-alone
physical computer. The same risks and exposures apply regardless
of which Operating System is used in the Virtual machine. Just as a
additional note, some Linux distros may have problems with running
under VPC 2007. Might be a good idea to visit one of the VPC 07
forums and research the Linux version you're intending to use.

Linux doesn't really need internet security because of the way it is
designed and run - you don't run Linux as Root (aka "administrator").
And before anyone jumps in with "you can get AV programs for Linux" - they
are actually designed to safeguard any Windows machines that might be
networked to a Linux box....
