Virtual PC 2007 - XP as guest and Vista as host

Just started trying virtual PC 2007.
Host is Vista Business.
Guest is XP Pro.
Do need to install antivirus or internet security software on both OS?
Usually, it's one PC, one license.
Does it means one or two antivirus/internet security license(s) in this case?
Can I use Free AVG on XP and Norton on Vista?
Will Windows defender/Windows firewall help? Do I need to switch these on too?
Appreciate your advices.

If the client operating system(s) are going to be able to connect to
the Intenet, certainly.

Usually, it's one PC, one license.

True. Fortunately, there are plenty of free products available.

Yes. Fortunately, there are plenty of free products available.

Can I use Free AVG on XP and Norton on Vista?

You could. Or you could loss that resource-wasting Norton product and
use a free anti-virus on each.

Will Windows defender/Windows firewall help? Do I need to switch these on too?

WinXP's firewall is barely adequate, so you should seriously consider
something better for that installation. Vista's firewall is much
better, and should be sufficient for that installation.

Does this mean that stuff being downloaded from internet using MS Virtual PC
does not go through the AV and firewall of the host operating system?

I use ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite.

In your opinion, which is reasonably good free antivirus?
I have only used AVG Free antivirus.
AVG also have free Anti-Rootkit include anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam
and firewall.

Usually not. Check with the makers of ZoneAlarm to see if their
product also protects Virtual Machines.

AVG is good, and I like AVAST on Vista.
