Hello, i downloaded Vitual Pc 2007 , And i gave it like 700mb of ram and 25
gigs of HD to ensure it has enough..
then i installed Win XP Pro that my buddy lent me, because i used to have
xp, but it was a home.. and it was on my HP and it was mangled up and it
sucked. and you know.. stores never give you the XP copy :(
Anyways.. so the installation was good.. all of it was cool but then when it
comes to connecting, it just wont work...
for example, me and a friend did the exact same steps.. except he got to
connect but i didnt.
My Computer Is Vista Prem. 32bit
Connecting directly (no router or w/l stuff) to Videotron HS internet
I do have intenet on my computer

What should i do?

Step one - check that you are actually properly licensed to use Windows XP
in that VM.
If your original copy was on an HP machine and it came pre installed on that
HP machine then it is an OEM version and not transferable - so that if the
HP is now dead so is your license to use that copy of XP. In which case you
will need to buy a new license for XP for the one ruining on a VM.

Once you are properly licensed then check that you can connect to the
internet on the Vista machine directly
then check the networking setting for the VM in Virtual PC to ensure that
you are allowing it to either directly use the host machine network card or
you are NAT'ing onto it.

Any further questions about Virtual PC should be posted to the
microsoft.public.virtualpc newsgroup.

alright, but the part about NAT and whatever you said i didn't understand,
how do it do that.. license should be good because it's a friend of mine who
gave it to me and we both did the exact same thing except his is working...

If this is a copy of an XP he already has and using using then you are using
pirate software.
If this is genuine spare copy that he has not currently have installed
anywhere then OK.

As regards NAT etc see the Virtual PC help (open VPC ,,, Help ,,, Virtual
PC Help - contain all you need to know) for information about how to
properly configure the networking option available to each virtual machine
or ask you friend how his is set up - post future question about Virtual PC
to the correct group.
