Virtual Memory too slow

Lately, when I logon to windows, I am getting the message "Your computer's
Virtual memory is too low, windows is adjusting the memory...other programs
may run slower..." (can't remember exact text). The only thing I've done
differently lately is dl the Microsoft Antispyware program. It cleaned up any
spyware programs and had the computer running faster that day, however, since
then, my computer runs very slow and doesn't load properly (i.e. Norton
Antivirus is usually the last program to load when I logon, lately, it hasn't
been loading at all). If anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it!!
Thanks... ssslooooowly waaaaiting for help!

First check to be sure you have plenty of free space on your hard drive. For
XP I recommend at least 1GB free but as long as you have at least 2.5 times
your physical RAM available on your hard drive you ought to get by. By
default Windows "Virtual Memory" takes a portion of the hard drive to swap
parts of memory not currently in use. If your hard drive is low on space you
will get this error.

Second, check to be sure your virtual memory settings are correct.
Right-click "My Computer" and select "Properties". Click on the Advanced tab
and click the Settings button under Performance. Click the Advanced tab under
Performance Options and click "Change" under Virtual Memory. Choose "System
Managed Size" to let Windows set size it needs for optimum performance.
