Quite often I receive the following warning:
"VIRTUAL MEMORY MINIMUM TOO LOW.
Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is
increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file."
Nothing happens, though. Any ideas on how to correct?
Thanks in advance.
If increasing the page file size doesn't fix
problems like this it can indicate a wide range
of problems, including the most common ones like
- Insufficient free space on your system partition
for page file expansion. When you see that kind
of error message, even if you have page files set
up for other partitions, W2K will only attempt to
increase the size of the one on your system partition.
- One of or more apps with a memory leak. Increasing
the page file size doesn't help much if a leaky app
keeps eating up the expanded page file. Start
monitoring Task Manager to see where your RAM and page
file is being consumed.
- Your initial page file size might be too low. Most
people recommend 1.5 or 2 times the RAM size. And even
if your page file size was ideal at the time Windows was
installed, many people forget to increase it when the
add more RAM to the system.
