virtual memory problems

Anyone know how to get xp to use the virtual memory
settings? Everytime I reboot my two xp machines, xp tells
me I don't have a paging file. What's more I have set it
many times and have done everything in the microsoft
knowledge base.

One machine I upgraded form NT, but the other machine is
brand new.

Can anyone help me correct this problem?

I removed the Intel Application Accelerator, rebooted but
got the same problem.

Then I downloaded and installed the latest version from
intel.com, rebooted but still have the same problem. No
paging file or the paging file is too small.

By the way, I didn't install the Intel Application
Accelerator until after I found that suggestion in the
microsoft knowledge base. In other words, I had the
paging file problem before I ever had the Intel
Application Accelerator.

I've had the paging problem ever since upgrading to xp pro
from nt.

I will look into ALex Nichol's article on virtual memory.
Any other suggestions?

Something else of interest. I don't even have a
pagefile.sys on my machine anywhere. And, yes, I am
showing hidden system files.

This is crazy.

HELP!

Is your hard disk(s) partitioned? How many hard disks?
