You may or may not be able to do that any more. When your printer
installed, you may have let Windows XP use it own built-in drivers.
Unfortunately, especially for older printers, the printer drivers
included with XP perform only very basic functions -- not including ink
level monitoring.
If you are using a built-in XP driver, go to the website of your printer
manufacturer and download a driver for Windows XP, if one is available.
Before you install a new driver, you might want to read the following

If there is no XP driver from your printer manufacturer, you are
probably out of luck as far as viewing ink levels.
