Viewing all documents in Outlook

I would like the ability to be able to view all the emails that I sent and
received in one view, sorted by date.
This would enable me to work out what I'd done on a particular day.
Is this something that's already in Outlook, but I can't find it, or will I
have to write a solution?

What version of Outlook are you running and what mode (Corp/Workgroup,
Internet Mail Only, etc.) do you have it installed in? If you're not
sure, check Help | About.

You could create a search folder that includes your Inbox (and any
subfolders) as well as your Sent Items folder. Group it by date or by
conversation.

Thanks for your help, but I did some research into it and found this coment
in the help file:
"Microsoft Outlook can only search one set of personal folders at a time.
For example, you cannot search in your archive folder and in another .pst
file during the same search. You have to make a separate folder group for
each set of folders and search in each group separately."

So I'd have to search in each of my pst's. Outlook mail is realy Mickey
Mouse compaired to Notes!

You can always use an add-on like Lookout or Google Desktop Search.

Ah - well you didn't say you needed to search different message stores.
In that case get Lookout (it's free, last I checked) and it will do it for
you.

"One view to rule them all" ... I had the same question and your suggestion
works. But I would like to see an icon next to each email to indicate if it
was a sent or received item.

Well, the names of the folders in which the messages reside are included in
the display, so icons to indicate that are unneeded.
