Viewing a PPT or PPS without the navigation scrollbar

Is it possible to tell PowerPoint 2003 (the ful package, NOT the Viewer) to
not display the navigation scrollbar ever, despite what might be in a PPT or
PPS file?

I'm using PowerPoint 2003 (again, the full package and NOT the Viewer - I
uninstalled the Viewer) to programmatically play back a (changing) list of
presentations. It's sort of a kiosk mode thing, but the new Viewer doesn't
expose the object model like PP Viewer 97 did, so the Viewer is of no use to
me.

So I'm trying to use full PowerPoint (more expensive, sadly, but...) And
while it almost does what I want, I get the stupid scrollbar popping up and
I seem unable to coerce it into hiding.

Any suggestions, and particularly solutions, would be greatly appreciated.

I've never seen a scrollbar appear in a PPT presentation. I'm guessing that
only means that I'm imagining something different for "scrollbar" than what
you're seeing. Let's see if we can get my inner eye in synch with your outer
ones. ;-))

Are you viewing the presentations from within a browser?

Have you checked the Slide Show Setup ... for each presentation to make sure
that it's set for Full Screen or Kiosk and not Windowed?

Where exactly do you see the scrollbar? Is it like the scrollbar you see at
the right side of the slides when you're working on a presentation or something
else?

If you can post a screenshot on the web someplace, that'd be great; post the
URL here.

By chance is the presentation set to be viewed in a window? Do Slide Show-->
Set up show and check the first three options. If presented by a speaker or
kiosk is selected, there shouldn't be scrollbars. If, on the other hand
browse in a window is selected, the scrollbars will always show.

If you're talking about that semi-transparent thingie in the bottom left
corner: Go to Tools - Options - View and uncheck "Pop-Up Toolbar". That
setting is saved for the computer you use, if you show your presentation on
another computer, you have to uncheck it there, too.

Best regards,
Ute
