Viewing _vti folders in Frontpage?????

Dave

Should I be able to see all of the _vti folders when I
have checked "show hidden files and folders" in Frontpage
2002? I cannot see any of them in Frontpage views. I
know they are there because I can see them on the web
server in Windows Explorer.

I only can only see "_private" hidden folder.

Thanks!

They are not visible in FrontPage because you should never do anything with
them. They are there for FrontPage only. So, if you see them in Windows
Explorer, don't mess with them!

Thanks. This is unfortunate considering that sometimes
you need access to these folders in order to perform
troubleshooting and you may not have access to the web
server. Such was the case for me when I was trying to
follow the steps outlined in Microsoft Knowledge base
article 205710 in order to fix a problem:

I am unfamiliar with that article, but something you may
want to consider doing is to publish from the live web back
to your HD. This will give you access to all of those
folders, and you don't have to worry about screwing up the
server

However the _vti folder are never published between locations, the FP
extensions on the destination, create and maintain them as needed. They are
unique to the web and machine they are created on.

If the issue on the remote server, then the host will need to follow the
instructions in the MS KB.

Normally they never need to be accessed by the user
- with caution they can be accessed on a server (as required for KB 205710) using a FTP client or by the host
