"View Source" is hijacked?

Chopah

I run XP Home and IE 6.0.2900 and SP2.

Lately when I'm looking at a web site, and click on "View Source", instead
of seeing the html source, I get Notepad opening a blank document called
Peek.txt.

What the heck is going on?

How do I fix this mess?

I have Norton AV, Zone Alarm, and anti spyware.

Thanks in advance.

I don't remember who suggested this, but..... If you have a shortcut to
Notepad.exe on your desktop, delete it. For some reason it can interfere
with the the View Source in IE if your HTML Editor is Notepad. I have no
earthly idea why.

Look for NoViewSource set to 1 in these two keys. If set to 1, change it to
0 (zero)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Restrictions
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Restrictions

NoViewSource
0 = disable restriction
1 = enable restriction

Hi Wesley:

I tried this one first...

"I don't remember who suggested this, but..... If you have a shortcut to

This immediately fixed the problem, no re-boot needed, thank you.

I guess windows uses notepad to display the "source" and gets confused.

Thanks again.
