View settings are not retained

Very annoying problem in win2003.
I change the view in services, active directory, system amanger etc to be
maximised, have the columns large enough to see all the words etc, yet when
i close the windows and reopen it goes back to how it was...

How do i get them to keep settings?
 
If you select Folder Options from "Tools" on the Menu Bar there should be
option which says "Remember Folder's View Settings". You should select this.
