View images in Windows Explorer (after SP2)

I loaded SP2 from CD several days ago.
Prior to SP2, when I went to Windows Explorer and opened
my Pictueres file and put cursor over an image (in right
screen), a small view of the image appeared in left
screen. If I clicked on the image (in right screen), a
larger image would open and if I wanted, I could click on
the bottom of that image and it would open in my
PhotoImpact software screen.
However, now after loading the SP2, when I click on an
image, the larger image does not open, BUT instead it
automatically opens in my PhotoImpact screen.
How can I get back the previous view of the image?
I really do not want my PhotoImpact opening each time I
click on an image. I would like the popup image to appear
again. Please advise and thank you.

We are senior citizens (not to familiar with computers,
etc.) and would rather not make any changes, etc., to our
system especially after the large SP2 upgrade. As we
mentioned, the thumbnail of the images still show in left
side of Windows Explorer, but but no longer see the larger
version of the image as a popup when we click on the image
(line), as before. When that larger image pop-uped on
screen there was an icon at bottom of picture that I could
click and THEN it would open the image in my PhotoImpact.
Now when I click on the image (line description in right
side of Windows Explorer) it opens right away in
PhotoImpact. However, we have noticed, if we right click
on the image description line (right side of screen) we
get a pop up that allows us to click on Preview; AND then
the larger version of the image pops-up on screen (as
before). But now we have to do the right click first. So,
I guess we will have to settle for that, even though we
would like to have it as it was, prior to loading SP2.
Thank you for your help.
(We have a lot of images for our homepage that we like to
view prior to transferring them to our homepage.)

Tom, Kelly's reg tweaks are safe to use. She is very well known and
knowledgeable -- one of the best here.

The fix Kelly suggested was for 'thumbnails.' I can see
the thumbnail on left of screen (Explorer). It is the
second 'larger' image that I do not see any longer. The
one I got when I click on the image file (line on right of
screen).

Hi Tom,

Depends of the viewer you are using. If it is still PhotoImpact, check with
them:
