I must convert bmp to jpg to view images. How can I get WinXP to open bmps??
Many thnkas,in advance.

You Right Click a .Bmp file and from the context menu choose "Open
With" and then direct it to your favorite program or "Microsoft Picture
and Fax View (Default).

I should have added "and retain the bmp image in my files". I want to view
the images as I catalog them opened, not as icons. I have plenty of storage
space and prefer the bmp fidelity. Thanks for the help!!

Select the "Always open with..." option, too.

The context menu, available through right clicking the file icon in
Windows Explorer, should be offering a "Preview" function, which will
allow you to view .bmp and many other graphic file formats without
modifying the files on the disk. Look at the bottom of the Preview
window for a projection screen icon that can start a full screen slide
show of the graphic images in that folder. Moving the mouse during the
slide show activates a little control panel with buttons for functions
like pausing and exiting the slide show.
