Video Quality Help

It's my first time ever trying to edit a movie and I'm having an issue that
I'm not sure how to fix. I use a program called Frapps to record myself
playing a video game. The video is captured in raw-uncompressed format on my
hard drive so it is rather big. A 4-5 minute video can be as large as
2.5GB's but the quality is an exact replica of what it's like in real-time.

Anyway, when I import it into WMM, and then finish editing and save it to my
hard drive, the quality seems to diminish quite a bit. Are there options
that I can choose to preserve some of the quality of the original video? I
realize that the end-result file size might be a bit larger, but the I'm okay
with that.

Any other advice?

the quality of your saved movie will depend on your choice of profile
used....

DV-AVI is usually the best choice when heading toward a DVD.... but it's
limited to 720x480 (NTSC)... for higher quality you can use WMV format
files, but need a custom profile. See the Saving Movies > Custom WMV
Profiles page of my website.

Ya I have no desire to burn my movies to a DVD. I just want make them
available for download by other people that play the game.

I'm trying to capture analog from VHS tapes without much luck. The last
one is a 10 year old tape of a basketball game recorded at LP so the
quality isn't very good to start with. I tried using the high quality
setting but it was still very fuzzy and jerky and even worse when
burned to DVD. I didn't have any better luck using media center.

Any suggestions for this problem? I've got an ATI ehome wonder tv
card in an Dell XPS 400 2.8 ghz with a meg of memory.

I assume setting up one of the profiles is the way to go but which one?
Do I use the 32 or 64 bit encoder? Which codec would be best at what
settings?
