Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this or not.
I recently upgraded to Direct X 9.0c and since then, I have been
having video playback problems. It doesn't matter what player I'm
using, the problems are there. If I play mpg's etc in WMP10, I have to
go to tools/options/performance/advanced/video acceleration/ and then
uncheck "use overlays" to get the videos viewable, otherwise the
colors are washed out, with white being the major color. In order to
get viewable videos in the other players, I have to set the hardware
acceleration down to half in the display settings/advanced.
But, I can't use ANY settings to get viewable DVD's in any player that
I have ie, WMP10, Interactual or WinDVD. I've tried updating the
WinDVD player in order to update the codec to play DVD's with no luck.
I've gone through all of the video testing in Direct X and Windows
troubleshooting, no help. The testing in Direct X shows that
everything is all right. I have a couple of 3d intense video games,
and they play with no problem. I have had no problems using Direct X
9.0b. I have a HP 1.8ghz desktop 512Mg memory, with 32mg's for memory,
I am using WinXP home, SP2. I have a s-3 video card on the mainboard.
All of the drivers are up to date. I have rolled back the video
drivers with no change. I have scanned for viruses, adware, malware,
shareware <G> etc. The system is clean.
Now for a question. I know that direct x is a part of the system, but
is there any way to roll back to 9.0b? As far as system restore goes,
my restore points don't go back to when I upgraded to 9.0c. I was
thinking if I could go back to 9.0b, I would be all right.
Thanks!
