Video on laptop

I have a dell inspiron 4000. My monitor works until windows XP loads then it
goes blank. I plug in an external monitor and that works. I have reset the
connector on the laptop monitor with no luck. I have also downloaded the new
drivers from dell support. no luck. Any thoughts?

Hi,

By looking at the description of your issue. I understand that it is
nothing to do with video drivers. It should be a problem with display
settings. The resolution and the refresh rate you have set on your laptop
may not be supported.

Try logging in safe mode and change to a lower resolution. Or try changing
the resolution on the monitor.

Please let me know if this information helps. Reply back and give more
description of the resolution and refresh rate for further help!
