dvd to tv on a laptop

does anyone know how to get a laptop (dell inspiron 600m)
to show my dvds on my tv...i've got the s-video cord and
have tried to just set up a second monitor after plugging
in but the damn thing won't accept the tv as my primary
monitor when it does show up

Read the notebook manual. Many notebooks have a 'hotkey' that will switch
output from screen to tv. But each is different.

Could try updating the drivers first from the laptop manufacturers site.
