Video/graphics problem...

The video/graphics problem I'm having appears to be simple, but the source of
the problem is hard to pin down. On the system in question, I'm using an
Nvidia 440MX/AGP/64mb. The system is Windows XP with SP2, and latest drivers
for video card and directx 9.0c. Running dxdiag shows now issues and the
tests run fine; however, when playing a game, (the Sims2 for instance), the
mailboxes and other random things are pure white. Other games also have
similar problems...like the graphics will randomly become corrupted, showing
an intense red or other graphical glitches. I've tested the cards memory,
the system memory, formatted and reinstalled windows xp from scratch, etc.
Is it possible that such issues could be due to a dying power supply? No
glitches appear running normal desktop programs. Also, I've tried to
different videa cards...the one stated above and an Asus Geforce FX
5200...the same problem occurs with either card. Any help or suggestions is
greatly appreciated!

If ram memory is ok (you might switch them to diffrent slots just to chk),take
the power supply out and get it tested, most computer shops have the
equitment,
as its the only way to test one.If its 2 yrs or older,or under 400 watts
replace
it,most good 400 watt supplys sell for about 50.00.

Thanks Andrew. I will take your advice, as I'm pretty certain you are
correct about getting a new PS.
